‘Outlander’ Season Six Trailer Shows the Darkness and Sadness Coming to the Ridge

Starz released the second trailer for season six of Outlander this week.  While we see the expected characters in this trailer, there are some blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moments (check out the screencaps below) that show that this season is not messing around.  It appears that the Frasers have problems coming all around them; there are at least three antagonistic issues and characters featured in this trailer.  At least two of them are continuations from season five, but there are additional ones the Fraser’s are not expecting.

Is it just me or is the lighting for this trailer more dark than usual?  At points in the trailer, it wasn’t worth taking a screen capture of some moments because you can’t really see much.  Please let this not be a lighting issue as a whole like that last season of Game of Thrones.  Dark lighting is okay, but you can’t have your audience struggling to make out what is happening.  I really, really hope the lighting issue is just isolated to the trailer.

The quote by Claire (Caitriona Balfe) in the last part of the trailer foreshadows that Claire has risked her life and her family’s life to return to Jamie (Sam Heughan), and is she now possibly regretting that decision?  Claire had no intention of Brianna (Sophie Skelton) following her, let alone Roger (Richard Rankin), to the past, putting them in harm’s way more than their own time.

What has me excited for this season, other than the normal things of an Outlander fan, is the Fergus (César Domboy) storyline that the show has decided to tackle.  César has been woefully underused in this series.  In season five, we saw Marsali (Lauren Lyle) step more into the spotlight, but Fergus was still playing a small part.

Season six of Outlander premieres on March 8, 2022.  You can follow Outlander TV News on Twitter and Facebook to keep up with the news on the upcoming season.
