Why Did Season 2 Start Like That?: E! Has the Answer

Many fans of the Outlander series on Starz came from being established fans of the book series by Diana Gabaldon. When fans are so established and invested in a story there are bound to be some disagreements with the transformation to the screen, especially because the books can not possibly be transformed exactly, be it timeline or dialogue. Season 2 had a VERY different opening than the second book in the series “Dragonfly in Amber“.  Because of this drastic change E! went to the source for some answers, they sat down with Diana Gabaldon, and Ron D. Moore to discuss the thought process behind the change of opening for the first episode of Season 2. Read the article HERE.

I am an avid fan of the books but that season opener was nothing short of stunning from start to finish. The entire first half hour had me absolutely enthralled, Tobias and Caitriona both outdid themselves, some of THE best acting yet in the series and that’s saying something … every bit the equal to the last 2 episodes of season one that were so incredibly grueling and hard to watch … the cast and crew continue to impress, well done! So glad Diana chose Ron Moore to handle the adaptation … he has proven himself equal to the task.

I too, am a HUGE fan of the books, I LOVE them…. I’ve read and reread at LEAST 20 times… that being said, I LOVED the show at first… I loved “meeting” the characters. I was hooked…. HOWEVER, I’m not really digging how they are portraying Jamie, in the show, he seems like a ninny, he’s not the sharp, take action, stand up guy he is in the books… I’m a little disappointed but, I will keep watching and hoping that he turns into the “book Jamie” we all know and love
