New ‘Outlander’ Trailer That Many People Will See This Weekend

Another Outlander trailer?  Yes!  It is only about thirty seconds of the trailer, but there are some new scenes in those thirty seconds.

According to E! Online, this trailer will be running before screenings of Fifty Shades of Grey in theatres this weekend.  That will give a lot of new eyes the chance to see what Outlander is all about.  There is no word on what theatres will be showing the Outlander trailer, so if you see it in front of Fifty Shades of Grey, let us know!

Update:  This is not a tease of the trailer, but the whole trailer that you will see in front of Fifty Shades of Grey.  Sorry for the confusion! -Sarah

Oh, will April 4th come any faster?

    • DrBlueFrogPhD

      “Only” 50 days to go!

      • Tierni

Oh, I know, but it seems like forever. Usually when there’s a split season, it’s only about three months. This has seemed interminable! You are right of course. We don’t have that much longer to go!

        • DrBlueFrogPhD

I agree, this wait has been slightly unreasonable. Ron Moore has stated that the longer than normal hiatus was due to scheduling by Starz (to which I say, “C’mon Starz – move something to Friday nights then!”). They had to air The Missing and now Black Sails in the same time slot as Outlander. I think this also gave Starz an easy out if the show didn’t do as well as they hoped. Luckily the pilot episode broke all kinds of Starz records and they immediately had the foresight to order a second season. My only hope is that Starz realizes that we, the fans, are probably not willing to put up with another split season like this again. Either delay starting the entire season until you can play all the episodes on Saturday night, or adjust the schedule and start airing something on Friday nights.

I completely agree. They already had a built in audience. I discovered the books back when only the first three were available, and have hooked my sister on them as well. I am trying to do the same with my daughter and niece. We have been waiting for an outlet such as this, to do justice to the books. I’ve been so impressed by what Starz has done. I just think they could have realized a little sooner what a hit they had on their hands. I’ll be patient, but I agree, I would rather wait to start season two so that all episodes can be be shown in tandem. I realize this was an ambitious first season, so that may have been part of the slowdown. However, I worry that such a long break causes a series such as this to lose momentum. Some people may not stick around for the finale, though I believe hard core fans will at any rate. It just makes for a long period of “drought”. Oh well, as you say, only 50 more days to go. These little teases each week make me excited to see the back eight episodes.

I’ve also been very impressed with what Ron Moore & company have done with the story. Even when they go “off book” I’ve been really pleased with the changes that have been made (I mean, the only criticism I had of the book was the flattness of the character of Frank, I couldn’t fathom why Claire kept trying to go back to him – I could understand wanting to get back to hot baths though LOL). The writers have done an excellent job of embracing the book and the story, but also making it work in the medium of television.

I’m hoping the first episode back is more than an hour though. They have a lot to cram in there if everything we’ve heard is going into episode 109 happens (the rescue, spanking, making up, getting back to Leoch, dealing with Laoghaire & christening the newlywed suite). They’ve sacrificed some pretty important dialogue, especially around the wedding episode, that I’m hoping pop up soon, plus there’s everything Jamie tells Claire after he spanks her. In my mind that’s a good 90 minute episode, at least.

I’m wondering how they are going to fit it all in as well. I don’t want them to rush through anything. It’s interesting, I can’t imagine this as a two hour movie, or even a short miniseries. Imagine how much would be be lost in that translation? I agree, Frank is given a great deal of depth in the added scenes. The actor really makes Black Jack as smarmy as Diana wrote him. It’s an interesting portrayal to say the least.

Well, I feel Ron Moore and crew have done a tremendous job in maintaining the integrity of the story so far. Where they have veered off into unknown territory from the book has kept things interesting, and I feel explained some things better, especially for non readers of the series. I find it fun to see what they add or change. It keeps me on my toes. We’ll just have to trust that they will treat this episode with the same respect they have the earlier ones.

When I watched the wedding episode, I was a little thrown off by the timing of scenes, but it added to the story once everything fit it together. I would have loved to have heard a little more dialogue from Jamie about his family, but that probably would have taken precious time from the story.

It’s fun to see how they handle this incredible story. I think we can partially thank Ron Moore’s talented wife for his staying so true to the storyline. She has been a loyal fan of the story for years. I am looking forward to seeing how they treat the spanking scene. That would have to have been a very difficult one to write and perform!

Enjoyed your conversation with Dr Bluefrog. If you get the DVDs when they come out, or download the first half on iTunes, there is a 5 min alternative scene where Jamie is talking about his family on their wedding night. As well as other scenes and fabulous interviews.

I have a feeling that Ep 109 May also jump around a bit as the wedding did, the opening scene that we’ve all seen is not Jamie at Ft William but at the stream with the mysterious blonde ladie. Any thoughts who that may be?

          • Tierni

Are you talking about the scene with Jamie’s voice over? I believe that is Claire coming to him in the background, but she is kept blurred. It makes me think he is reeling over how he needs to address what happened and how she promised not to move, but then left and ran to the stones. Promises, as hinted in the exchange between Geillis and Claire are taken very seriously, so I thought that was what was going on at that point. It will be very interesting to see when the series restarts. I am looking forward to the DVD’s. You may be very right about how episode 109 may jump around too. I’m not sure how I like that, but it seemed to work for the wedding episode, so will probably work out there as well! Thanks for joining in on the conversation!

          • Gingergirl

You may be right about lady in background being Claire, but she looks to have long blonde hair. Not much longer before we find out. your theory makes sense. It may be after rescue but before her punishment. As I said to dr Bluefrog, from all the sneak peaks, the first show better be 2hrs to do the upcoming scenes justice. And it’s been my pleasure!

          • Tierni

We’ll see soon enough, but not really soon enough what they have in store for us! Take care!

          • Gingergirl

            You also…

          • DrBlueFrogPhD

Personally I thought it was either Laoghaire or Geillis (though I can’t imagine why Geillis would be coming to him).

          • Gingergirl

Hi Dr! I thought it may be Laoghaire also. If it is her, the only thing I can think of is maybe Ron and the writers went off the path a little again, as they put it. After claire and Jamie arrive back to Leoch, Jamie goes out to buy Claire her wedding ring. perhaps Laoghaire follows to confront him…that’s a stretch, I know, but all I can think of. And it would be so far out of sequence unless they REALLY skip around as they did with the wedding. But then again, in the show she already has her ring… so maybe to keep the story going, the writers have him just go for a walk. It would still work as far as the reason for the argument that leads to the passionate love seen we were teased with! Will look again. tierni’s theory makes sense also. April can’t come quickly enough…

          • Gingergirl

Enjoying your conversation with Tierni. I agree with the length of the ep 109. If the love scene in latest trailer is in the first ep, that scene takes place after the spanking on their first night back at Leoch. . And if you remember what led up to that romantic scene, they have quite a battle which is important to the story line and should not be omitted.

I’m thinking a 2 hour show as the rescue scene needs to be in there somewhere as well as the scene where Murtagh speakes to Jamie about Claire’s actions…

My fear, the filming of season 2 is not beginning until spring so we may be in for another long Droughtlander….at least we’ll have 16 shows to watch over and over and over………..

Snowbound in Boston….-2 Degrees F. 2 more feet of snow this weekend. Wedding is on tomorrow night on starz. That’ll warm me up!

  • TammyHoopingarner

I cant wait, but to be honest I wont be able to watch the one episode…if you have read the books you know what I am talking about.

    • Gingergirl

I know which one you mean Tammy and Neither will I. I still can’t watch the scene when Jamie is flogged…..the other difficult scene to watch will be when Claire “rescues” his soul at the Abby. Going by the titles, that will be the last ep of the season…. If you’re in the US, The Wedding is on sat night on starz for Valentine’s Day. And last night I binge-watched all the interviews on YouTube from Comicom and the other outlander gatherings. It helps!

      • Outlandishly_hooked

The rescue will be great. It’s the final bit of glue for their relationship, don’t you think?

        • Gingergirl

Yes, I totally agree. And I agree with Tammy that the rescue will be exciting to watch with the animals involved, but it will be gut-wrenching to see Jamie’s abuse at the hands of BJR.

    • Outlandishly_hooked

I agree, there will be a very hard to watch episode. For me the flogging was really hard to watch. But, aren’t you looking forward to running Hines and the wolf? I hope they don’t cut those.
